| All applicants are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA). It is recommended that students file their FAFSA at least four to six
weeks prior to the date the funds will be needed. The application is available on-line
If you are selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, you will
be required to provide additional documents.
When filling out your FAFSA, please use the name that is reflected on your Social
Security Card for each and all parties that are included on the application. Using
nick names, middle names or abbreviations can cause a mismatch with the Social
Security Administration and delay processing of your application.
A Student Aid Report (SAR) will be mailed/emailed directly to the student from the
federal processor. When received, you will need to review the information for accuracy.
Make any corrections needed and return the form to the federal processor for corrections.
If no corrections are needed, no further action is required.
In addition, applicants should note that Lanier Technical College does not participate
in any of the federal student or parent loan programs.
