The Skills USA Automated Manufacturing Technology competition consisted of students utilizing Computer Automated Drafting (CAD) to construct part geometry, Computer Automated Machining (CAM) to generate tool paths, and Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) to machine the part. These tools and parts are utilized to run and maintain factory equipment and high tech, advanced assembly processes. AMT skills are in high demand in today’s high tech, advanced manufacturing environments.

Craig Taylor, Lanier Tech’s Precision Machining and Manufacturing Instructor and an experienced industry professional, noted that “Skills USA provides a platform for students to prove and improve their technical skills to employers prior to graduation, providing a resume building opportunity as well as networking opportunities with students and practitioners both locally, regionally, and nationally.”
