All proposals for new academic programs must follow the procedure outlined below:
- Academic Dean and/or Program Chair or Director coordinates with Director of Curriculum and Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) to develop a New Program Request (NPR) for the proposed program
- Director of Curriculum uploads draft NPR to the Technical College System of Georgia's Knowledge Management System (KMS)
- Director of Curriculum adds NPR for the proposed program to the agenda for the upcoming Curriculum Committee meeting
- Curriculum Committee votes on approval of the proposed program
- VPAA presents proposed program to the LTC Leadership Team for a vote of approval
- Director of Curriculum notifies President that the NPR is ready for submission to the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (SBTCSG)
- SBTCSG votes on approval of the proposed program and informs President of the outcome of the vote
- Institutional Effectiveness office prepares a letter of notification or prospectus as appropriate for President to submit to the Southern Association of Colleges Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
- Upon notification of approval by SACSCOC, the President's Office informs the Director of Curriculum, who then informs all internal stakeholders of the approval
