Scope: Applicants and Students
Contact: Vice President of Student Affairs
Students Applying to Lanier Technical College are charged a $25 application fee which covers the cost for the first time an applicant tests at Lanier Technical College. Students are allowed to re-test one additional time in each section of the ACCUPLACER exam, with a re-test fee of $10 per section, during an academic year. For Example, if you test during Academic Year 2019, which consists of Fall 2018, Spring 2019, and Summer 2019 Semesters, you would not be eligible for a re-test until the next academic year..
Provisions
- A 30-day wait period is strictly enforced between the initial test and re-test.
- The re-test fee is a per section test fee of $10 per section. Students requesting to re-test at a remote testing site, other than LTC, will be required to pay the appropriate re-test fee to LTC if LTC creates the testing voucher for the remote site. In addition, remote testers may also be subject to any fee the remote testing site requires.
- Students who test at the Adult Education level on any portion of the ACCUPLACER exam will be allowed one re-test on that portion of the exam with no fee. There is a 30-day wait for the re-test. If the student scores at the Adult Education level on the second attempt, they will be referred to Adult Education for remediation. After the remediation is completed with Adult Education, one additional test will be allowed on ACCUPLACER.
- Students who test at the Learning Support level may request to exercise their option for one re-test ($10 charge per section as appropriate) PRIOR to the first day of class for a Learning Support class.
- Students may not re-test once they attend a Learning Support class for a particular subject area.
- The 30-day wait period from the original test date is still required for re-testing.
- Dual Enrollment applicants are allowed two attempts on ACCUPLACER per academic year while still enrolled in high school. There is no re-test fee for these students. Dual Enrollment applicants cannot be admitted with scores in the Learning Support range
Dual Enrollment applicants who tested but did not enroll at Lanier Technical College while in high school but later apply to the college after high school graduation, are considered "new" applicants.
- If the applicant previously tested with scores in the Learning Support range and do not wish to test again, the original test scores can be used and the student placed in the appropriate learning support course(s).
- If the student does wish to re-test as a regular applicant, they are allowed one test attempt per academic year and a re-test fee of a $10 charge per section will apply.
- Applicants for jobs in law enforcement & Human Resource Testing Purposes that require ACCUPLACER testing must contact the Office of Continuing Education @ Proctored Exams — Lanier Technical College or by calling 770.533.6992.
