Gainesville, GA— 40 plus Lanier Tech Adult Education students graduated from the new “Volunteer to Career” career pathway on March 4, 2025, at Lanier Tech’s Forsyth Campus.
All adult education programs through the Technical College System of Georgia offer opportunities for participation in training that lead to credentials in high-demand career fields. These programs are called Integrated Education and Training opportunities (IETs). Lanier Tech delivers many options, including Certified Nurse Aide, Early Childhood Care and Education and Commercial Truck Driving. This program, Volunteer to Career Pathway, is just one of our latest training programs for adult education students. It provides participants with a credential in hospitality, helping many students find employment and solidifying the direction of their careers.
Thanks to this unique course, students are given the opportunity to volunteer in Forsyth and surrounding counties, and in doing so, they learn more about civics, network with various industries and fulfill critical needs. Participants move beyond the classroom, feeling less of an outsider looking in, and suddenly become active and integral members in our community.
Graduates of the Volunteer to Career pathway had this to say regarding their experience:
“This day is the happiest I have felt since I moved to the US two years ago. I have been through hardships since I moved here, but today I felt great happiness.”
“I can’t believe that the President of Rotary Club came to support me today. All because we volunteered at the banquet.”
“This course has made me see in real life how customer service should work. Now, when I go to a restaurant, or place of business, I notice things I never noticed before.”
“The concepts I learned in this class are things I can use in my everyday life. I learned so much about customer service and how I need to treat people even in my own family.”
“When I was taking the test, I was thinking in English not Spanish! I couldn’t believe it.”
“I need a job, and I will show my certificate when I interview.”
