Kubota Donates Diesel Engines to Rising Dual Enrollment Program

October 3, 2024

Gainesville, GA—Lanier Technical College, a Unit of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), offers “Workforce Development” education opportunities for citizens within a seven-county service area. One unique way Lanier Tech provides these opportunities is through its Dual Enrollment Program. Dual Enrollment allows high school-aged students to gain tuition-free college credit while still in high school.

Dual Enrollment opportunities are offered at multiple Lanier Tech campuses and remote sites, such as the newly-built career and technology labs located within Lanier Charter and Career Academy (LCCA) in Gainesville, Georgia. Labs such as these provide a plethora of career development, skills gains, and career confidence for rising high school students.

On Monday, September 23, 2024, Kubota Manufacturing of America (KMA) generously donated two 1.6-liter diesel engines and one 2.4-liter diesel engine to the LCCA Diesel Equipment Technology Dual Enrollment program. Kubota’s vice president, Phil Sutton, Senior Manager of Training, Tim Miller, and Vice President of Human Resources and Facilities, Ryan Owen, were on site for the donation event.

This dual enrollment program allows high school students to gain skills that will serve them well if they enter the diesel industry after graduation. They can also choose to continue their education and finish the diploma-level Diesel Equipment Technology program at Lanier Tech.

Lanier Tech President, Tim McDonald, spoke to the students about the significance of this donation, “It is opportunities like these that give Lanier Tech students the best chance of finding their chosen passion. I believe everyone is born with a gift, and it is when our students have the opportunity to work on industry-standard equipment that they are able to find their chosen vocation. Thank you to Kubota Manufacturing of America for this generous donation to our students’ education and life-long career fulfillment.”

The Executive Director of Career, Technical and Agricultural Education for Hall County Schools, Rhonda Samples, shared McDonald’s sentiment, “Kubota Manufacturing continues to be a tremendous business partner with Hall County Schools providing students with many opportunities through Work-Based Learning, industry tours, mentoring, guest speakers, etc. Additionally, providing industry-specific equipment to our labs is a valuable investment that can enhance students’ learning and prepare them for future employment opportunities. Thank you, Kubota, for your generous donation and for supporting the next generation by investing in their future.
