Lanier Technical College has recognized recent GED® graduate, Ashlee Adams, as its 2022 Dinah Culbreath Wayne Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Award winner.
Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) EAGLE Award acknowledges the outstanding accomplishments of Georgians who enroll in TCSG’s adult education program in order to study for and earn their High School Equivalency Diploma.
Locally, Adams will travel around Lanier Tech’s seven-county service area and promote adult education to civic groups, political members and other literacy groups. Her story of triumph through adversity will serve her well as she strives to educate others on the benefits of adult education.
Each March, local EAGLE winners are the guests of a three-day conference in Atlanta that ends with a lunch banquet in their honor. All twenty-two colleges are to elect an EAGLE student who will compete against other colleges for the title of TCSG’s Overall EAGLE Student. The overall winner will then travel the state and be an advocate for adult education.
Adams plans to continue her education in veterinary science. She found her love for animals through her childhood canine companion, who at times, was her only friend.
Adams is a shining example of what adult education in the TCSG system can do for students who seek to gain their high school equivalency diploma.
