Gainesville – Lanier Technical College’s SkillsUSA Chapter competed in the 2022 SkillsUSA National Competitions at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia during the week of June 20, 2022. SkillsUSA Nationals are held after state competitions to test the best competitors from each state in the country.
In all, Lanier Technical College sent ten competitors to SkillsUSA Nationals. Their names and competitions are as follows:
Joseph Hennesee – Automotive Refinishing Technology
Shraddha Doshi – Job Description A
Daniel Whitehead – Action Skills
Janessa Tanelus – Esthetics
Austin Hatcher – Firefighting
Jeremiah Daws – CNC Turning Specialist
Yoselin Rodriguez – Career Pathways – Healthcare
Aylin Rodriguez – Career Pathways – Healthcare
Kimberly Mendez-Ibarra – Career Pathways – Healthcare
Colton Phillips – Marine Service Technology
While at Nationals, State Officers, Ashley Watson and Paige Buhite, helped with opening and closing ceremonies for the State of Georgia. Once the competitions were completed, Lanier Tech had seven competitors place, five of them achieved gold medals.

Lanier Tech’s SkillsUSA Chapter also received a Gold-Level accolade in the Chapter of Excellence Program. The Chapter of Excellence Program defines a SkillsUSA chapter for its level of education, philanthropy, and excellence. Lanier Tech has received this award for the past four years.
